01.07.11 - New Technology: Leak-Testing and Pad-Printing

ASG Medical Systems is pleased to announce the introduction of the ALPS Automated Leak-Test and Pad-Print System for catheters, combining two complex catheter manufacturing processes with ASG's feeding, handling and integration technology to create a fully automated system.

ALPS uses proven pad print technology from Deco-Tech, and leak test technology from Zaxis, along with automation and integration from ASG Medical Systems to create a robust, bin to bin automated system for catheter leak testing and pad printing.

The benefits of ASG automation typically include a 100% increase in daily output for the leak test and pad print systems, improved quality and test integrity due to precise product handling, and of course, dramatic labor savings of two people per shift available to focus on other valuable tasks.

12.06.10 - New Product: Automated Drill Punch & Skive

ASG Medical Systems have partnered with Technical Innovations to help improve upon their already proven skiving technology found in the CL2... The result features all the same great features as the CL2 PLUS:

• INCREASED PROCESSING SPEED!
• Encoder Feedback on rotational axis
• Color Touchscreen HMI with 150 possible recipes
• Able to Skive multi-lumen tubing with dimensions called in Clockwise and Counter Clockwise directions on the same part.
• Programmable Lot count for each recipe.
• Programmable blade change count for each recipe.

This machine also has the ability to fully automate: Batch load, pick and place, skive parts from saved recipe, and finished part to bin, while minimal operator interaction increases safety, quality, and quantity. One operator could easily run multiple machines.

11.30.10 - New Product: Automated Cut & Deburr (ACD-5M)

ASG Medical Systems, is proud to introduce the new Automated Cut and Deburr (ACD-5M), able to precisely cut and deburr Nitinol and stainless steel wire. This fully automated machine turns spooled or rough cut wire into stacks of perfectly cut-to-length and deburred guidewire blanks, ready for centerless grinding. 11.15.10 - New Technology: Underwater Extrusion

ASG Medical Systems has developed a unique puller for the extrusion process that operates underwater in the cooling bath. Targeted toward extruding over discrete wire lengths (guidewires), the new puller allows the wire to be paced with programmable speed changes during the extrusion process as needed. An encoder tracks the wire position precisely during for repeatable speed change locations. The puller is used in conjunction with ASG’s automatic feeder that inserts the wire through the cross-head, providing a fully automatic process for extruding over discrete wire lengths. A cutter separates the coated wire lengths on the fly and leaves them in the bath for manual removal. The overall length of the extrusion line is reduced since the material is not pulled past the end of the bath. OD measurements correlated to distance from the end of the wire can be provided. ASG’s wire feeder can also be used with a more conventional puller setup.

11.08.10 - New Technology: Variable Angle Cut Option

Just a few months ago, ASG made available the Angle Cut option for our Accu-Cut series of automated cutters. However, the need to keep things moving forward led us to design the new Variable Angle Cut option. It has the ability to vary the blade angle from 30 to 110 degrees; adjustable in 5 degree increments. Additional functionality allows this feature to cut angles on one end, or both.

11.03.10 - MD&M East: Update

This year's MD&M show was a great success. First, we'd like to thank everyone that came out to see us this year. We got to see many familiar faces, and meet a lot of new ones as well. Second, we got the chance to unveil not only a new booth next to our strategic partner Vante, but a new machine as well: The New ATS! Check out some of the pictures from the show below.


The Automated Tipping System doubles the capacity of the standard Vante Saffire RF Tipping system, providing an excellent return on investment. It does this by seriously reducing labor costs, and executing multiple processes per part. It also improves output quality since each component is processed with the clean, square cuts and precise lengths that ASG Medical Systems is known for.

The Automated Tipping System provides fully automatic, bin-to-bin operation by coupling ASG’s Accu-Cut tube cutting and Acu-Feed tube feeding technologies with Vante’s powerfull Saffire RF tipping technology. The system has the ability to be batch loaded and run autonomously without operator interaction until all material has been used or a pre-set lot amount is complete. It performs any combination of thermal tipping, including:

• Necking
• Flaring
• Thermal bonding of two catheter materials, for soft tip applications

Upon completion of RF tipping, the catheter can then be cut to a precise length based on the newly formed tip using ASG’s proprietary Tip Referencing technique.

08.02.10 - New Technology: Angle Tube Cutting Option

ASG introduces the Accu-Cut 202L angle cut option for PEEK, Nylon 12, and other tough plastics. The Accu-Cut 202L with PEEK option provides excellent squareness and burr-free cuts on these difficult materials. The new angle cut system cuts 90 degrees, 45 degrees, or both and is fully automatic. 07.30.10 - New Product: World's First Five Meter Automated Guidewire Grinder Feeder

ASG is pleased to announce the introduction of the AGF-5mv Advanced Guidewire Feeder for Royal Master Gen V grinders. This system integrates the RMG Eye-bar wire tracking camera directly into ASG’s automated feeder, providing fully automated and robust feeding of stainless steel and Nitinol guidewires up to 5 meters long. The AGF-5mv follows the AGF-3mv that was released in January for wires up to 3 meters. Like all AGF feeders it uses ASG’s proprietary side shift technology for extremely fast exchange times even on the longest wires. The machine is extremely compact, with a footprint just inches longer than 5 meters. It features a high resolution color touchscreen, and wheels for easy installation. We now have the ability to precisely and squarely cut tubing up to 1” diameter for either on-line or stand-alone operations! Both of these great new technologies are fully incorporated into our industry standard 202L platform and is now designated the 202CT-XL. Welcome to our new ASG web site designed especially to serve both our customers and future customers! Please note that we’ve organized each of our machines into families for you to better understand what they do and the capability differences between them. Each machine has its own product page on which you can find both a specifications brochure and a video of the machine in action. You can choose to either open the brochures and videos on the web or you can download them for future reference and to share with your colleagues. We’ve also made it very easy to navigate the site through the integrated search of our site, through the plentiful links and drop down menus, through the media, site map, and product pages, or clicking on the family page and determining which machine most fits your needs. We will be continuing to provide news and updates regarding ASG and our new technologies for you and have attempted to make it as easy as possible for you to contact us, our international reps, our strategic partners.
